Why Pilates

Pilates is not a one fix all exercise but it is a unique approach that will systematically exercise all the muscle groups in your body, the weak as well as the strong. It combines flexibility with strength building. In this way, the aim is to create muscular balance and symmetry, taking into consideration all the factors involved in a healthy body.

Pilates is a holistic approach to exercise based upon a number of key principles, which link body and mind. Pilates concentrates on building strength, stamina, balance, co-ordination, coupled with improving flexibility, posture, breathing and well-being.

Today, Pilates is seen as one of the safest forms of exercise, beneficial for just about everyone, regardless of their needs, age, fitness level or phase in life, for example, pregnancy or recovery from surgery or illness. So much so, Pilates is often recommended by GP’s, orthopaedic consultants, osteopaths, chiropractors and physiotherapists.

‘Pilates develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit.’ JOSEPH PILATES
